Economist for the IT Department in Vänersborg Municipality

Do you want to work in a role where the interplay between finance and IT contributes to a socially important operation? We are now looking for an economist for the IT department in Vänersborg Municipality for a temporary position of about one year.

Description

As an economist in the IT department, you will have a central role in the department's financial and follow-up work. The IT department is responsible for the municipality's IT operations and digital development and is led by four managers. In this role, you will work closely with the IT manager, controller, and department heads, and be responsible for ongoing financial administration, budgeting, forecasting, follow-up, and administrative tasks for the entire IT department.

We are looking for someone who is confident in the finance role and enjoys working independently with significant responsibility. You have a structured working method, are meticulous, and have a good ability to plan and prioritize while being analytical and able to see the big picture – both financially and operationally.

Since the role is placed in the IT department, we expect you to have an interest in IT issues and an understanding of how finance and technology interact in a larger organization. You are curious, development-oriented, and enjoy developing work methods and routines.

Responsibilities

Finance and Follow-up

• Posting, registration, and accounting of supplier invoices and ensuring timely handling.
• Invoicing and internal charging against the municipality's operations.
• Preparation, follow-up, and analysis of the IT department's budget in collaboration with the manager and controller.
• Follow-up of operational and financial reports related to the IT department.

Administrative Work Related to IT

• Responsible for managing and following up on cases registered in our case management system.
• Ordering IT equipment via the municipality's IT portal.
• Contact with suppliers regarding orders, inventory status, and pricing issues.
• Participation in the IT department's leasing process, including:
• Coordination with operations during ordering and returns.
• Preparation and handling of monthly billing.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• Relevant university education in finance or equivalent competence acquired through work experience.
• Several years of experience in finance, accounting, and financial follow-up.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Experience with the Raindance financial system or similar systems.
• Good knowledge of Excel.
• Basic understanding of or experience working in an IT-related business.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability, collaboration skills, and flexibility.

Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis.
